# Why Bitcoin Layer 2

Bitcoin is undergoing a new era of scalability, while it deserves a better solution.

BitReXe team has developed a Layer 2 scaling solution based on Bitcoin without compromising the security and decentralization of the underlying network. The motivation for such developments is to take over what’s undone on Ethereum and take crypto adoption to the next level.

The BitReXe bitcoin layer 2 solution encompasses three aspects:

**Hashrate reusing** - Reusing the Bitcoin consensus system for security

**Scalability** - Implementing scalable transaction processing and ledger storage/access through PREDA (Scalable Processing of Reads and Writes in Decentralized Applications).

**Trustless bridge** - Enabling trustless asset settlement back to Bitcoin.
